bio
Nance Broderzen is a fiction and dramedy writer whose work explores the delicate balance between humanity and nature, inspired by her lifelong passion for environmentalism. Raised in Davenport, Iowa, Nance’s love for the natural world took root early, leading her to study ecology, creative writing, print journalism, and sociology at various institutions across the country, culminating in a Liberal Arts degree from the University of Iowa.
Her travels brought her to Los Angeles, where she flourished in the city’s vibrant art scene, honing the craft of screenwriting, spoken-word poetry, and fiction. With a focus on themes of feminine/masculine balance and ecological consciousness, Nance spent years here, crafting stories that blend vivid imagery with profound questions about our planet’s future, peppered with tongue-in-cheek humor.
Having relocated to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2025 (after briefly caring for her late mother in North Fort Myers, Florida), Nance is immersed in a thriving creative community. Inspired by the spiritual and mountainous energy that abounds, she proceeds to write speculative fiction, fantasy, and dramedy that weaves her environmental ethos with deeply human narratives and perhaps a little wit.
Nance continues to send out her screenplays. Moreover, is currently seeking representation for her debut novel, The Badass Wolf, a reinvention of Little Red Riding Hood, which aims to expand minds, inspire debate, and conjure a few laughs along the way.
